Starting Over in Your 50’s
Victoria’s novel – The Captain’s Cook – was inspired by her real life experience of starting over. After another failed relationship & career move, she found herself drained emotionally, financially, and spiritually. A last-minute job offer to cook aboard a sailboat felt like a lifeline. What began as an escape became a transformative journey through open waters, hard truths, and unexpected connection.
The goal of this presentation is to inspire others to have the courage to try something new when the world seems to be forcing you to settle.
Beyond the Horizon: Tales of Moonlight, Whales, and Remote Shores
Victoria speaks about vivid moments during her sailing adventures such as: Seeing the Southern cross, witnessing hundreds of dolphins dancing in the moonlight, swimming with whales, and scaring off sharks. She describes sailing to islands most people will never see and the human connections she found along the way.
If desired, Ms. Vanransom can discuss galley challenges, strange and surprising ingredients found in island markets, and her favorite dishes for dock parties.
A Night of Storytelling: Adventures at Sea
Author and Sailing Yacht Chef Victoria Vanransom facilitates an entertaining evening for sailors. Victoria shares some of her tales crossing the Pacific Ocean and provisioning for the galley on exotic islands. Then she welcomes other sailors to share their stories. It’s a wonderful way to enhance club membership and learn from one another.
